Christmas time. Time of shopping for gifts for your love ones, children waiting for Santa, and watching Christmas specials and Christmas songs.

As far as Christmas Specials go, one of my personal favorites involves two step brothers wanting to have the best Christmas ever.

That's right; I am talking about Phineas and Ferb.

Now when you guys think of Phineas and Ferb you immediately think of their Summer adventures how every day, these two stepbrothers invent great inventions and having the best Summer ever not just for them, but for their family and friends as well.

However, it's not just summer vacation that Phineas and Ferb have fun but winter as well.

On December 9th, 2009, The Christmas Special, "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!" aired on Disney XD. This is the first thing Phineas and Ferb related that takes place besides Summer Vacation; in fact, it takes place after their Summer Vacation.

But is it good?

……okay think about it, I put this at number 2 on my Top 25 Favorite Specials List last year, What do you think?

But still, let's take a look at this Christmas Special anyway.

In this Special, Phineas and Ferb decide to turn the Tri-State Area into a giant thank you card for Santa Claus. And everything so far turns out good. Until Doofenshmirtz steps in. You see Doofenshmirtz for all his life wanted to hate Christmas since EVERY villain hates Christmas. But he cannot find it in his heart to hate it. That is why he creates the Naughty-Inator, an inator that will make the entire Tri-State Area naughty through Santa's eyes. And believe it or not, it works. When Phineas' letter from Santa as well as other kids' letters to Santa comes back with a naughty stamp on it, he thinks that there will be no Christmas. But Phineas refuse to take this lying down and decide to do something about it. It's up to Phineas, Ferb and the gang to bring back Christmas to Danville and prove to Santa that Danville is really nice.

Now normally, I usually give a full synopsis on Phineas and Ferb episodes but in this case I will not spoil this for anyone. For two reasons; one, a lot of people have seen it, and two, they maybe some people who haven't seen it yet. So let's talk about how This Christmas Special holds up.

The Writing:

When it comes to Christmas Vacation, the writing is really well done…but there are a few problems. Let's start with the problems first and end with the good. First off, I have noticed that there is a lack of certain characters. For example, while it is great to see Ferb's Grandparents again, where were Phineas and Candace's Grandparents? What happened to Clyde and Betty Jo and where were they during the holidays? Also, where's Vanessa or Charlene for that matter. They weren't there to celebrate Christmas with Doof? That is really sad. Stacy I don't count anymore since she AND Jenny made an appearance in the extended version of the Christmas special. The point is some of these characters should have been in the Christmas Special too. The second problem with the writing is that there are times were the special feels rushed at times. There are certain parts that do feel fast paced for a short time. But despite that it is still does a good job with the story. (Not like the ABC Family version of the Christmas Special where the pacing is MUCH WORSE.) Now this particular moment in the special I have no problems with, but others do and I do want to address my thoughts on this. In the scene where Phineas gets his letter back and asked why Santa thinks everyone think they are naughty, Candace comes out and say that it is all his fault and she never apologized for saying it. The thing is I think she did. When Phineas decided to save Christmas, Candace tells Phineas that she decided to help. To me, that is where Candace took back what she said to Phineas. Well those were the only complaints I have with the special (except the Candace one cause I had no problem with it.), so what do I like about the writing? Well, everything else. Yes, despite my complaints everything else in terms of writing is really good. One of the things I like about it is how original most of it is. Now originality can be seen differently through the eyes of others. Through one's eyes, people will say that a plot of a story has been done many times before. To others, they probably haven't seen them before and will say that that plot is original to them. To me, most of what happened of in Christmas Vacation, I did not see until seeing this special.

Doofenshmirtz wanting to hate Christmas because all villains hate Christmas, I did not see that done before until seeing Christmas Vacation.

Making a thank you card for Santa, I have not seen that before until seeing Christmas Vacation. Though admittingly, I thought this was done once in The Year Without a Santa Claus but it was mostly get well cards instead of thank you cards.

And while saving Christmas has been done before several times and Christmas Vacation is no exception, but the way they handle it is done really well in its own way.
Also I love how the episode felt Christmassy and heartwarming.\
Another thing I love about the writing is how they added continuity style Easter eggs to what has happened so far in the show.

Overall despite the flaws, the writing was really well done.

The Animation:

Like most of Phineas and Ferb, the animation is really great. But the best part of the animation is the background animation The background animation is gorgeous. The designs are really well-drawn and look beautiful. Not much else to say about the animation other than the animation is gorgeous.

The humor:

The humor is great in this special. While trying to be a heartwarming Christmas Special, it does have the usual Phineas and Ferb style of humor that we know and love.
There are many great funny moments in the special.

Buford and Baljeet got some funny moments at the end but I won't spoil it.

Isabella has a lot of funny moments. I love the "What'cha Doin'?" senses and that line:

Isabella: Oh, um... We don't celebrate Christmas, but I got the coolest gifts for Hanukkah! Eight straight days of dreams come true! (Pauses, realizing her mistake) I mean, I'm with you guys. Boo, no Christmas.

Candace and Doof had some great funny moments as well. From Candace's attempts to find out what Jeremy wants for Christmas to Doof's getting "threatened" by Christmas carolers.

Overall, the humor is great.

The songs:

Whether you like Christmas Vacation or not, you must admit that the best part of the Christmas specials are the songs. Not only are the songs are heartwarming and Christmassy, they are 100 percent original too.

The first song, Winter Vacation, sung by Bowling For Soup is basically a winter version of the Phineas and Ferb theme song. Like the theme song, it is catchy and fun to listen too. Plus Bowling For Soup does a great job with this song. As well as most Love Handel songs but that's a topic for another day.

I Really Don't Hate Christmas, sung by Doof is, like most of Doof songs is really good and really hilarious. His reasons for hating Christmas and him talking about other things he hate are really good. I also love the kick line at the end. A really great Doof song.

That Christmas Feeling, sung by Olivia Olson is my favorite song from Christmas Vacation. Olivia Olson has a great singing voice. Pus the song itself is upbeat, heartwarming and memorable. I love listening to this song every holiday.

Where Did We Go Wrong, sung by Phineas, Isabella and Baljeet, like Little Brothers from Phineas and Ferb Get Busted is another sad song in the series. When they found out that Danville has been branded naughty, they think that they were to blame and gave up all hope. It is a good song and really sad as well with how the characters are dealing with it.

Danville for Niceness, I hate to admit but it is the weakest song in the special. That doesn't say much though because it is still good. It feels more upbeat since this take place shortly after Where Did We Go Wrong. Not much else to say other than, not the best but still a good song.

Christmas is Starting Now is sung by a swing band called Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. This is my 3rd favorite song in the special. For a Christmas song it has a good swingy beat. It is very catchy and I won't lie, every time I hear this, it makes me want to dance.

Thank You Santa, sung by Mitchel Musso is my 2nd favorite song in the special. I will be honest; I was in tears when I heard that song. LOVE this song. It is very heartwarming and it has some good lyrics. I love this song.

I will also like to talk about one more song. The song, What Does He Want, sung by Candace was cut out of the special because of time, but was later put back in the extended version of the special. In this song Candace talks about what kind of gift to give to Jeremy. As Candace songs go, this is a really good one. Not one of the best Candace songs in the series admittingly, but I still like listening to it. It is funny and really catchy. Go ahead and listen to it when you have the chance. Good song, but I
like That Christmas Feeling, Thank You Santa and Christmas is Starting Now more.

Overall I give "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!" an 8.9 out of 10.

While it does have its flaws, it is still a really good Christmas Special. The writing is good despite some flaws, It has some funny and heartwarming moments, and has great Original and memorable songs.

When it was released, Many TV critics gave Christmas Vacation huge positive reviews. Some even think that it deserves the title of Christmas Classic. I agree but that's just my opinion. This is a Christmas Special I highly recommend watching this special, even if you are a fan.

Well guys that concludes my review. I hope you enjoyed it and as always give your thoughts on Christmas Vacation if you want. Nut remember to respect others opinions.

Good night and Merry Christmas.
